Carpe DIEM! 10 October – 16 October From October 10th to 16th, Tomorrow Hub Association had a fantastic time learning about innovative digital solutions. Our Erasmus+ adventure with Carpe Diem began with loads of fun! We started by getting to know each other with icebreakers and then explored the quaint streets of Molfetta. The highlight? Making pasta together, turning it into a real Italian experience. On day two, things got techy as we dived into AI talks and checked out the EU’s AI Act. We also tackled real-life problems using cool tools like ChatGPT. Day three took us to Taranto, where we met the brains at the University’s IT department and got a taste of the best gelato in town. The evening turned into a cozy affair as we shared meals with local families. On day 4, we had lively debates about AI and explored the Hevolus Metaverse Company. Freedom 8 April – 17 April Embracing Peace: Lessons from Cyprus In the heart of the Mediterranean, the island of Cyprus stands as a testament to both the scars of conflict and the enduring quest for peace. Recently, we had the privilege to delve into this complex history through an Erasmus plus project, aimed at understanding the profound impacts of war and the value of peace in our daily lives. Discovering Cyprus: A Journey of Learning and Reflection Our journey began with a desire to immerse ourselves in the culture and history of Cyprus, an endeavor motivated by our longing to appreciate the peace and freedom we often take for granted in our home country. The project provided an avenue not only to witness the resilience of a nation but also to see firsthand how ongoing conflicts can weave through the fabric of everyday life. A Lesson in Resilience and Peace One of the most inspiring aspects of the Cypriot spirit is their relentless pursuit of peaceful resolutions, despite decades of division and tension. During our time there, the attitude of the Cypriots—determined yet hopeful—stood out. They carry the weight of history with a resolve to forge a future where harmony prevails over discord. This deep commitment to finding peaceful solutions in the face of adversity left a lasting impression on us, reshaping our perspective on what it means to strive for peace in troubled times. Carrying the Torch: Spreading Awareness and Empathy The insights we gained from this project have instilled a profound sense of responsibility in us. Moving forward, we are committed to raising awareness among our friends and family about the blessings of living in a peaceful society. By sharing stories of resilience from Cyprus, we hope to foster a greater understanding of global issues and encourage empathy towards those living under the shadow of conflict. Empowering Youth Workers Through Self-Directed Learning Trakai, Lithuania This article highlights a distinctive 9-day training course in Lithuania’s Trakai region, aimed at empowering youth workers by enhancing their skills according to the European Training Standard (ETS) Competence Model for Youth Workers to Work Internationally. Team Building and Field Exploration In addition to self-directed learning, the program facilitated team building and exploration activities. One day was devoted to fostering collaboration and connections among the participants. Another day featured a visit to Lentvario M. Šimelionio Gymnasium, providing insights into the world of youth work. Emphasis on Self-Directed Learning and Development The core objective of the training was to immerse participants in the ETS Competence Model for Youth Workers to Work Internationally through a self-directed learning approach. Over a 3-day period, participants engaged in workshops covering key areas such as non-violent communication, coaching skills, and various aspects of youth work. This included an in-depth exploration of the nine core competencies outlined in the ETS model. Conclusion and Future Outlook The final day of the training acted as a closing ceremony, offering participants the opportunity to reflect on their experiences and contemplate their future endeavors. This comprehensive training experience in Trakai, Lithuania, equipped youth workers with a mix of self-directed learning, workshops, team-building exercises, and a school visit. By fostering a thorough understanding of the ETS model, alongside practical tools and a platform for knowledge exchange, the program prepared participants to effectively navigate the international youth work arena.
